Canon 5D

A new camera that has been released has finally given me some excitement about the photography industry. This is mostly due to my background in video also. In video there is always the constant struggle because you want the control and DOF like that from a still camera, but instead you have to deal with video companies that can't seem to bring the 'still' technology to motion.

But the new 5D brings these together and has the potential of changing the industry...or at least bringing the two industries closer together. Before now, video from a still camera was a joke and only good enough for having fun with friends at a ball game. But now, a still camera will actually give motion cameras a run for their money.

I'd love to get my hands on one of these to see how it could change the way we shoot weddings. Imagine two shooters, both with 5D's that go back and forth between stills and video and the client doesn't know the difference. The potential is not realized completely yet but I can't wait for the future.

The cons? Audio looks to be the biggest drawback currently, but we'll see more when the final camera is released.

updates

I guess this is why I've never had a blog...because I never have any time to update it. Once the 70 hour work weeks slow down I'll be back on.

Here are a few photos from last weekend. Tried posting it from Blog It in Facebook but it doesn't work.
Had a great day in Lyons, my first time there, and was impressed by how nice the firefighters hall was...and some great food by HyVee in Fremont.
